Objective:
The overall objective of this status report is to document the main achievements with regard to gender equality and women empowerment in Rwanda as well as challenges persistent challenges.
Scope of the assignment:
- This is the first GoR report on gender equality and women empowerment. The report discusses equality between women and men while examining both genders and their status in various areas of society. This report focuses on gender equality and women empowerment achievements, driving factors, persistent challenges and strategies for further achievements. The analysis covers the period from 2000-to 2016/2017. The rationale behind this time frame the year 2000 coincided with the availability of gender disaggregated data from reliable national sources and significant analysis of on progress and gaps.
- The report covers three major themes corresponding to national pillars of development, namely the economic development, the social welfare and governance. Each of the three themes is sub-divided into many other sub-themes and indicators as set in national development roadmaps.
