Objective: The aim of this research project is to generate evidence to inform the design of a youth empowerment initiative by ANLM and assess potential contributions of related youth development networks (YDN) and capacity development programs for the promotion of employment among Vulnerable Youth in the three districts of Bugesera, Kayonza, and Kicukiro.
Scope of the assignment:
- To assess the overall work readiness of 326 vulnerable youth (222 female and 104 male) selected to participate in the Youth Development Networks (YDN), and employment mentorship programs;
- To inform the formation of youth inclusive multisector, locally driven networks that will bring youth empowerment actors in the 3 districts together for a shared agenda of building capacity of the youth workforce and mobilizing resources for the sustainability of programs implemented by the vulnerable youth at the local levels;
- Assessing the overall contribution of the youth initiatives to their competitiveness on the labour market and overall contribution towards the reduction of poverty amongst young women and men leading to their sustainable livelihood;
- Assess potential match or mismatch between the skills acquired by the youth through work readiness programs and the labour market in the targeted districts;
- Document lessons learned reflecting on: what worked well and why? What did not work well and why?) And how the project has contributed to transforming the lives of beneficiaries and how the initiatives contribute to transforming the lives of youth participants;
- Utilize the generated evidence to inform the scalability and replication of the Youth empowerment initiative interventions to other geographical areas in Rwanda and guide the Incubation Entrepreneurship approach that is at infant stage at ANLM.
