Objective: The overall objective of this assignment is to assess the national seed systems in the gender lens and identify disparities and gaps to be addressed in line with the overall AGRA gender and inclusion strategy.
Scope of the assignment:
The scope of work entails three major types of activities toward the achievement of the goal and objectives of this study:
- The first area of activity is about an extensive review of the findings of the SeedSAT assessment reports of the six target countries, namely Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Uganda (including the studies already done in Ethiopia and Nigeria) to understand their current status vis-à-vis to the 8 thematic areas of the SeedSAT that constitute also the main components of the seed value chain.
- The second activity is about assessment of the analytical tools, to learn on the merits and gaps in terms of monitoring and evaluation of the seed system from a gender lens and to propose how the seed system analytical tools can be improved to address the gender gaps to be identified
- The third activity is a detailed analysis of how to improve the analytical tools and proposals on how to respond to gaps identified at the previous stages.
